MEET PURPLE- THE LETTER OF A MAD BLACK WOMAN.

CHAPTER ONE

 WHO IS A BLACK WOMAN?

A lot of people have different views about who a black woman is or should be.

Even to the black woman, it is difficult to tell who she really is.

The black woman also called the coloured woman affectionately because they don’t want to refer to her as the stereotype black queen.

The black woman encompasses strength, bravery, tranquillity, versatility, and inner beauty.

To appreciate her, you have to dig deeper, because she is not just the body you see, the shape you admire and the perky breasts and well-defined backside line.

She is not just the manicure and pedicure that you see, neither is she the clothes she wears. She is the soul present in the skin, she is the soul and spirit beneath the skin that you see.

The black woman has a past, a present, and a future. She has a vision and pursues it. She is independent and fearless when facing her demons.

She is a woman who carries her own baggage and that baggage contains her fears, demons, and angels. Her fears make her resilient because she hopes to overcome them. Her demons whisper to her every moment of the day; telling her how she can’t amount to anything. How she is hurt and bruised and won’t ever run away from the past that threatens to break her very existence. Her angels telling her there is hope and that she shouldn’t give up on herself-ever.

The black woman faces insecurity and stress everywhere she goes, yet she smiles-that bright smile that you only see even when she is breaking inside and barely trying to put her emotions in check. Trying her best to not snap because when she does? They call her the MAD BLACK WOMAN!!!!

A MAD BLACK WOMAN who overreacts and makes issues out of nothing. A mad black woman who nags a lot and can’t mind her own business and cares too much, clings too much and loves too much.

The MAD BLACK WOMAN who doesn’t even know what she wants. But, do you know? Even if she didn’t know what she wants; she surely knows what she doesn’t want? She doesn’t know what she deserves but she knows what she doesn’t deserve and she is proud to be A MAD BLACK WOMAN who is confident in her own skin.

[I dedicate this chapter to God for the inspiration to write something so powerful and the wisdom to be humble in life].
