Tough times never last, but tough people do. – Robert H. Schuller
When days are gray and nights are long,
And hope seems but a whispered song,
A simple truth, so softly spoken,
Can mend a heart that feels so broken.
A tiny spark in endless night,
A flicker faint, but still a light,
A crumb of love, a drop of cheer,
In empty spaces, brings us near.

A smile shared when words are few,
A gentle touch to see us through,
A single star in skies of black,
A glimpse ahead, no looking back.
When dreams deferred seem out of sight,
And endless is the uphill fight,
A little step, a breath, a sign,
Can show the way, a spark divine.
For when we grasp at threads so thin,
And wonder if we’ll ever win,
A hand to hold, a song to sing,
Reminds us of the simplest thing.
A quiet dawn after the night,
A tender hug, a firelight,
A promise kept, a caring glance,
In “better than nothing” is our chance.
To find the beauty in the small,
To see the wonder in it all,
To cherish every little thing,
For, in the end, it’s everything.
It’s Better Than Nothing
In the quiet dusk of a hopeful heart,
A single spark can light the dark,
A whisper soft, a chance, a start,
A flicker in the cold and stark.
When dreams drift far beyond their reach,
And shadows cloak the weary mind,
A gentle touch, a lesson to teach,
In simplest things, solace we find.
A breath, a beat, a fleeting glance,
A melody from a distant shore,
In every step, a hidden dance,
In every less, there’s always more.
A fragment of a broken dream,
A tear that falls, a smile that stays,
In barren fields, a silver gleam,
In silent nights, a hymn of praise.
When all seems lost and hope is thin,
When echoes fade and fears abound,
Remember, love will always win,
In the smallest things, joy can be found.
A hand to hold, a friend to call,
A fleeting laugh, a shared embrace,
In moments small, we have it all,
In simplest gifts, a boundless grace.
For in the end, it’s what we find,
When grander hopes have lost their sheen,
The treasures of a humble mind,
In “better than nothing,” a life serene.
